Dear Friend

Every day we receive calls from women asking us for advice on how to talk with their healthcare providers about natural hormone therapy.

We always respond by first reminding them that natural hormone therapy is a choice every woman has. Natural hormone therapy has been enhancing the quality of life for countless women, protecting many from chronic and debilitating disease for more than twenty years. If your healthcare provider is not offering this choice to you, then it is up to you to take responsibility for educating yourself and your provider about this important option for healthy living and healthy aging - or to find another doctor who is willing to listen and work with you.

Women's Health America is here to support you every step of the way.

Here's What We Recommend

  1. Download our "Feel Like Yourself Again," brochure that outlines our innovative Restore Program, the Restore® enrollment form, and our Special Report on Natural Hormone Therapy. Review the materials and call or email us if you have questions about any of the information.

  2. A good place to start the conversation with your provider is by talking about natural hormone therapy, the difference between natural and synthetic hormones, and why you feel natural hormone therapy might be right for you.

    • If your healthcare provider brings up the Women's Health Initiative Study, be sure to clarify that the hormones used in that study were standard dose, synthetic hormones, not lowest-effective-dose, natural hormones. For additional information about this study, see Let's End the Confusion About HRT.

  3. Be sure to discuss the importance of evaluating risk factors, lowest-effective dosing, and monitoring results. Mention that the Food and Drug Administration and National Menopause Society are now recommending a low-dose individualized approach to hormone therapy.

  4. Suggest a saliva hormone test as a first step toward developing a regimen of low-dose, individualized natural hormone therapy, tailored to your symptoms, health history, and hormone levels.

    • Explain that saliva testing provides more useful information than blood testing because it measures only free hormones - those that are available to do their job. Blood tests measure free and bound hormones - those bound to proteins.
    • Be sure your healthcare provider also understands that if you are currently using hormone therapy, that our pharmacists would be happy to offer suggestions on a comparable low-dose natural hormone regimen, and discuss various dosage forms that might not be available in conventional medications. Transfering your prescription or ordering a new prescription through our pharmacy (Madison Pharmacy Associates), means that you qualify for enrollment in our Restore "What's My Level?" free follow-up testing program. Your healthcare provider can enroll you just by faxing us a completed What's My Level?" Enrollment Form to our Restore Program Specialists.

  5. Introduce our Restore® hormone level and rate of bone loss testing and low-dose prescription therapy program with an enrollment form. Provide your healthcare provider with information about Women's Health America, including contact information, and let him or her know we are available to answer questions and work with both of you every step of the way. You might also offer a copy of my book, The HRT Solution.

  6. Remember, you don't have to take "no" for an answer. Ask your provider to "try this approach." If he or she is unwilling, consider finding another doctor. Visit our Restore Program Provider online referral website at RestoreMD.com or call us at 800-558-7046 for a healthcare provider referral in your area.

The choice is yours.
