Make a difference!

Dear Friend,

You don't have to be Oprah Winfrey to be a woman who affects the lives of others in a powerful way. Any woman who has given birth, run a company, finished a marathon, or held the hand of a loved one in need knows the extraordinary power inside each and every woman. Suzanne Somers recently reminded us of this when she stepped up to challenge public thought, the media, and drug companies by publicly supporting the use of natural hormone therapy.

In her book, The Sexy Years, Suzanne voices what we all know: the media has not been complete or totally accurate in its reporting of the findings of the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) study. That study used a very specific type of hormone medication. We can all rejoice that Suzanne finally differentiates the one-size-fits-all synthetic hormone used in the WHI study, and how it can produce ill effects in a woman's body, from individually-dosed natural hormones, and how they work in our bodies just like the hormones we produce ourselves.

In fact, Suzanne tells us she continues to use natural hormone therapy even while going through treatment for breast cancer. Suzanne offers a stunning testimonial for the benefits of natural hormone therapy, not just for symptom relief, but for maintaining overall good health and quality of life as she ages - even as she battles breast cancer. Based on her intense research and the support of her physician, an accomplished endocrinologist, Suzanne states, "It is my belief that it is an environment of balanced hormones that prevents disease, so why would I want to give up the very thing that could help me win this war."

Suzanne goes on to say that, in contrast to the much talked-about WHI study, she has found "thousands of studies on women from different places around the world" who were given natural hormones. These studies "showed the following: 50 percent decrease in Alzheimer's disease, 50 percent decrease in heart attacks, 50 percent decrease in bone loss, 50 percent decrease in blindness, and 50 percent decrease in colon cancer."

Natural Hormone Therapy Treatment Began With One Woman

Ironically, the story of natural progesterone hormone treatment in the United States began more than twenty years ago with another woman who courageously stepped forward. This woman was not willing to accept that the "uncategorized" symptoms she experienced each month were "all in her head." This one woman became the first in America to use natural progesterone therapy for what we were soon to call PMS. I worked with that woman right here in Madison, Wisconsin. Her treatment was the beginning of a grassroots movement that changed women's health care.

It Is Time For Another Grassroots Effort

And now it seems it is time again for a grassroots effort where women help women learn the truth about their health care options.

Public figures like Suzanne Somers and Oprah have the ear of the American public. Imagine what might happen if these highly regarded public figures received boxes full of testimonials from women whose lives were changed for the better by natural hormone therapy, not only by symptom relief but, in many cases, by helping them stay off anti-depressants and maintain good health, libido, energy, and a zest for life through menopause and beyond. They would have to listen, and they would have to talk about it to the American public.

Our goal at Women's Health America is to facilitate that experience by compiling stories and testimonials from women like you whose lives have been changed for the better by natural hormone therapy. We will put these stories together with information and background materials and send them on to these and others who speak daily on television to the American public.

We invite you to share your story. Just send us an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
